Bopha! (1993)

"Bopha!" (1993) is a drama film directed by Morgan Freeman in his directional debut and written by Brian Bird and John Wierick, who based the screenplay on Percy Mtwa's 1986 play. The film's title is Zulu for "arrest" or "detain." Arsenio Hall and Lawrence N. Taubman produced the movie starring Danny Glover, Alfre Woodard, Malcolm McDowell, Marius Weyers, and Maynard Eziashi. This film focuses on the family of a man who served in the government police enforcing Apartheid laws in South Africa, believing he can change the system from within. While the job has provided his family with stability, growing tensions in his township and his rebellious son's refusal to follow his father's footsteps create a complex situation for Glover's character.
