Storyline When a shipment of repeating rifles is stolen from the U.S.
Cavalry, Capt. Haven (Stuart Whitman) and Sgt. Franklyn are sent to
recover them and enlist the aid of an alcoholic former confederate and
Indian hater, James Lassiter (Richard Boone) and a Mexican murderer,
Rodriguez (Tony Franciosa). Lassiter, who owns one of
the rifles, says it came from his embittered former commander Col.
Pardee, while an Apache woman informant reveals that Pardee intends to
sell the stolen arms to her people.
Storyline One is a young, jazz-obsessed Japanese drifter and other is a black
American GI on the lam in Tokyo. The two outsiders become outlaws and
the movie depicts their growing bond as an alternately absurd and tragic
culture clash.
Storyline Julie (Barbara Barrie), a young Midwestern mother, takes all the
right steps to assure a promising environment for her newborn daughter.
She relocates, gets a job and secures a legal divorce. When Julie falls
in love with Frank (Bernie Hamilton), an African-American man who works
at the same factory, her ex-husband, Joe (Richard
Mulligan), takes her to court in the hopes of getting custody. Frank is
advised to flee to keep his new family together, but instead he
confronts the biased system.
