Storyline

He was a graduate of Harvard and so far above her in all intellectual things until she decided that it was useless to try to come to him. She told him she was immoral, therefore unfit, so he went away from her. But she was ambitious, she wanted to be somebody, but the Negros told her she wasn't nothin' — just a "yallah, stuck-up, fly-by-night hussy" — and accused her of all kinds of things. She struggled, but how could a poor girl be anything in the face of such circumstances? Fate seemed to be against her; the more she tried to struggle up, the further she was pushed backed into the grime and squalor of Niggertown. Then she was arrested for grand larceny — but was she guilty? Or was it because she refused to deliver her virtue — her body — to the seducer?

Storyline
In the small town of Junction 88, young Buster Jenkins dreams of songwriting stardom, but his low-paying job as choir-master at the local church is getting no where. He's gotten no response from the songs he sent out under the pseudonym "Hewlett Green" to some big-time music publisher. Buster's even got competition for the hand of his girlfriend, lovely Lolly. Just when his dreams seem to be forever dashed, two well-heeled gentlemen come to Junction 88 looking for Hewlett Green.
