Storyline This drama deals with the sad division between what a man hopes for and
what he achieves. In the title role, Dick Anthony Williams (The Mack)
portrays a naïve, ambitious, recklessly optimistic man who finds himself
in difficulty because of his unrealistic hopes. Directed by Tony-winner
Lloyd Richards ("Fences") , and featuring Oscar-winner Louis Gossett,
Jr. (Carolina Skeletons).
Storyline A union leader in a large company tries to win equal rights for the
handful of West Indian workers at the company, but finds it is an uphill
battle. After being successful, and rightly proud of his efforts, he
finds that he and his wife have a difficult time coming to terms with
the fact that his only daughter intends to marry a West Indian.
Storyline Roy Kenner arrives in Bombay hot on the heels of dope smuggler Tom
Jordan, the man who murdered his partner. Combing the city for clues to
Jordan's whereabouts, Kenner crosses paths with 9-year-old Saji. Saji
soon helps save Kenner from the lethal drug dealers, and takes Kenner to
his home. Love soon blossoms between Kenner and Anasuya, Saji's mother,
and Saji comes to see him as a father. But Kenner's obsession with
vengeance threatens to engulf this accidental family in tragedy. Shot on
location, Kenner provided ample space for action star Jim Brown to
stretch his dramatic wings. Kenner adds plenty of exotic local spice as
well, from sitar strumming to the film's dramatic, climactic cricket
fight. (Yes, cricket fight!)
